Charicatures and character design have increasingly become a staple of my repetoire. Sometimes I'm asked to reproduce someones likeness faithfully but often they request a charicature and this, I believe, is the best representation of anyone. Whether it is a gift for someones birthday or a going away momento, I'm happy to comply (regardless if the sitter wants to be flattered or not).
This image was a bon voyage present for a work colleague. She was leaving for Paris and was a huge fan of French chanteuse; Edith Piaf.
I often set my charicatures in a backdrop relating to their interests or predicaments.
Here I was inspired by French street artist; Fafi and the Parisian music hall posters of Toulouse Lautrec.
